Global Workforce Optimization and GlobalEnglish Attract Interest During European E-Learning
Brisbane, CA, December 6, 2004 — GlobalEnglish Client Hilton International Delivers Case-Study Presentation on the Value of E-Learning for Global Companies
GlobalEnglish® Corporation, the leading online English learning and support service provider for business communication, participated in the Marcus Evans European e-Learning Summit in The Netherlands, November 7-9. The three-day event featured a presentation by Andrea Kluit, the Director of International Learning & Development for Hilton International, about the company's online English program with GlobalEnglish.
Kluit's presentation, entitled "Building a Global Service Culture at Hilton International," documented how Hilton University migrated key training programs from classroom to online and, in the process, aligned the training programs with its brand promise for excellent customer service. Prior to the launch of Hilton University in 2002, training was primarily "residential," operated by each hotel. This created varying standards for frequency, quality and cost-effectiveness.
"Hilton University and partners like GlobalEnglish have been instrumental in providing a training program that has made our team members among the best prepared in the world," said Kluit. "Strong English communication skills are at the heart of this effort, without which our frontline teams could not consistently exceed the expectations of our guests for excellent service."
During her session, Kluit described the design and delivery of the GlobalEnglish Corporate Learning ServiceTM and the results achieved after a year of deployment. Ninety-two percent of learners reported that they were able to apply what they learned to their jobs. On average, Hilton participants in the program reported saving five hours per week because of their improved English language skills. Time was saved on common tasks such as reading and responding to email, reviewing and preparing documents and communicating with customers.
"Hilton University is one of the premiere programs in the world for training customer-facing employees. The company has integrated workforce development with its business strategy," said Ron Hoge, GlobalEnglish President and CEO. "With their improved English skills, team members are better able to support Hilton's reputation for high-quality service, and many have positioned themselves for growth within the organization."
Marcus Evans e-learning summits are prestigious events aimed exclusively at top-level executives. Speakers are drawn from a variety of backgrounds and are acknowledged experts within their respective fields.
