GlobalEnglish Selected as Top Online Provider of English Language Training for Business

South San Francisco, CA, July 28, 2004 — University of Leipzig Rates GlobalEnglish as the #1 Provider of Online Business English Training

GlobalEnglish Corporation, the leading online English learning and support service for business communication, has been ranked as the best online learning service provider of Business English training. In a comprehensive seven-month study of 74 providers by the University of Leipzig, the GlobalEnglish® service was selected as the superior solution for its rich content, user interactivity, motivational strategies, and localized, enterprise-wide customer service and support.

"We were founded in 1997, established our Academic Advisory Board with the leading experts in English language learning, and then built our Corporate Learning ServiceTM on the principles of pedagogical and technical excellence," said Ron Hoge, CEO of GlobalEnglish. "Our goal from the beginning was to create the most educationally effective and engaging experience for learning English."

"Learning English via the Internet is more effective than traditional methods of learning if it is planned, implemented, and monitored based on sound pedagogy," said Professor Fritz Klauser with the University of Leipzig and head of the study. "The GlobalEnglish service achieved the highest marks in every evaluation category against a worldwide field of online English training companies."

The study, which was ordered by the Saxony Ministry of Education in Germany to identify a service for government-sponsored vocational training, evaluated 74 web-based English language training programs. Each program was measured on the following criteria, and the top five underwent two months of handson testing by English teachers:

--Appropriate use of media in teaching and innovative teaching methods: considered effective use of media and utilization of the full potential of the technology for teaching.

--Technically feasible: evaluated equipment, technical support, and the technical expertise of the development team and teaching staff.

--Sound content: examined to what extent the scope of an e-learning program matched the companyspecific requirements.

--Economically justifiable: considered price-performance ratio, update and maintenance, and cost/benefitratio, in particular when measured against the learning success and the motivational effects on students.
