GlobalEnglish Bolsters Japan Operations with Appointment of Former Mitsubishi Executive as Managing Director

South San Francisco, CA, February 12, 2001 — Masatsugu Fujii Brings More Than 25 Years of Worldwide Management Experience to GlobalEnglish, the Leading Online English Language Learning Service

GlobalEnglish Corporation, the leading online English language learning service for corporations and consumers, today announced the appointment of Masatsugu Fujii as managing director of the company's operations in Japan. With more than 25 years of management experience at Mitsubishi and other international companies, Mr. Fujii brings to GlobalEnglish a wealth of experience and knowledge of the expanding global economy in Japan. In his role as managing director at GlobalEnglish, Mr. Fujii will manage all aspects of the company's business in Japan, including working to secure new corporate and consumer partnerships for the company's award-winning online English language learning service.

Mr. Fujii is a passionate teacher of the English language. He is currently a television instructor for NHK, Japan's national broadcasting corporation, hosting "Business World in English," a program watched by a million viewers throughout Japan. Mr. Fujii has also written several books and articles on English language instruction for students and business professionals, including Business English Writing Manual, Business Negotiation, An Essay on English and English Conversation.

Mr. Fujii was most recently with Mitsubishi Corporation in Tokyo, where he was responsible for the company's New Business Initiative Group and managed its strategic joint-venture investment in India. Prior to this post, Mr. Fujii held several management positions at Mitsubishi. During his tenure there, Mr. Fujii was general manager of the company's International Human Resource Development office, as well as a manager in the company's food department.

In between posts at Mitsubishi, Mr. Fujii held management positions at successful companies in the United States and India. In 1999, Mr. Fujii was the executive director of Snowman Frozen Foods Limited in Bangalore, India, managing 10 stores throughout the country. While at Snowman, Mr. Fujii significantly enhanced the financial position of the company, gained several major business partnerships and set the strategic direction for the company.
