Corporate Learning Service

The GlobalEnglish Corporate Learning Service™ is used by global companies to deliver highly engaging, personalized instruction to develop their employees' business English communication skills. The comprehensive online product addresses the needs of learners at all levels and develops the critical skills required to communicate confidently and effectively in English.

The Corporate Learning Service provides complete support for learners—from assessment, to skill development, to on-the-job performance support. English is taught in the context of relevant business situations, with significant focus on meaningful cultural contexts.

Pre-assessment consists of a placement test and the creation of an individual study plan to ensure learners can efficiently and effectively meet their own learning goals. The core learning system provides improvement in all skill areas. And the productivity tools provide important, reliable performance support when learners need help with English on-the-job.

The GlobalEnglish Placement Test evaluates learners' current English skills and recommends the appropriate starting point within the GlobalEnglish curriculum.

  • The 45-minute test assesses learners in grammar, reading, and listening.
  • The adaptive format means that learners receive questions that are specifically targeted to their level, resulting in a more efficient and accurate placement.
  • In addition to curriculum placement, learners also receive specific feedback about their strengths and weaknesses in each skill area.

Individual Study Plans provide a customized learning path based on learners' needs, current English proficiency, and goals.

  • Learners set clear learning objectives for themselves in the areas they identify as relevant.
  • The study plan includes detailed recommendations on the best way to achieve the stated goals.
  • Learners establish their desired timeframe for study, and the plan is set up to help learners stay on schedule.

Comprehensive courses develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for learners at all levels, true beginner through advanced.

  • The business English courses focus on practical business English, covering global business issues and introducing learners to common business language that they will use in their daily business interactions.
  • Personal feedback and progress information help learners track their studies and include suggestions for extra practice, when needed.
  • A course progress test at the end of each course assesses understanding and overall mastery of the key learning points from the course.
  • An offline study option allows learners to download an assignment and work on it without an Internet connection.

The Business Skills Courses include challenging, topic-based simulations that prepare learners to participate in conversations with business associates.

  • The courses focus on common business situations, including negotiations, telephoning, meetings, and business socializing.
  • The realistic conversations allow learners to master practical business expressions and understand differences in tone and appropriateness.
  • To prepare for the simulation, learners can study the specific phrases and expressions, hear a sample conversation, and complete focused listening and speaking practice activities.

Online conversation classes for all levels—beginner through advanced—are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • The classes offer an exciting opportunity to practice speaking with a teacher and other learners.
  • Teachers provide helpful feedback during class and encourage active participation to help learners improve their conversation skills.
  • Each 55-minute class is based on a weekly business topic, with open classes available as well for learners to ask specific questions or interact with other learners in a more unstructured environment.
