Summary

The Build Release engineer will closely work with cross functional teams needed to support key technology initiatives. The ability to multitask across multiple concurrent projects is required. You will also have the opportunity to define custom internal applications using innovative solutions and Microsoft Technologies.

Responsibilities

Chief Architect*

Summary

The Chief Architect position is an exciting opportunity to play a lead role in the evolution of the GlobalEnglish products and services. Our next generation best-of-breed e-Learning, Online Knowledge, and Performance Support solutions are in the early planning stages. After learning our existing architecture, you will create the framework for the platform that will be a key enabler in our quest to grow the business. You will inspire and collaborate with teams of content and instructional designers, engineering teams, product managers, user experience designers and customers to determine requirements. On a continuous basis, you will be responsible for keeping our platform fully capable for delivering great user eLearning experiences and ensure that we stay current with changes in the market place.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Architect will have responsibility for the architecture of our complete Corporate Learning Service solutions. This includes the definition of all layers of our architecture from presentation to persistence and the required designs to breakup our services into integrated modules operating under specific performance requirements. Our systems include: traditional database systems, user access systems, content management systems, reporting systems, CRM, Content Delivery Networks (CDN), learning management systems and web applications all delivered as part of our SaaS English service.

The successful candidate is an effective leader and collaborator, with a track record of success in leading the architectural design of eLearning products that are web-delivered, include innovative Web 2.0 interactivity, and are delivered to enterprise customers on time and on budget.

Responsibilities
  • Develop an extensive expertise in all aspects of the current Corporate Learning Service and its sub-components
  • Set forth the guiding architecture, programmatic interfaces, components and modules that will comprise the next (and future) generations of our products; ensure that the architecture is secure in its origin and evolves to adequately protect against new threats
  • Research, design, and write software to specifications, either individually or leading a team of other developers
  • Work closely with product management, our content/courseware experts, data and systems staff and experience designers to plan ongoing feature and new product development as well as product maintenance
  • Enhance existing software by analyzing and identifying areas for optimization or refactoring
  • Generate technical documentation of the system architecture

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to architect global, multi-language, intuitive, accessible, high-performance, secure web- based systems delivered through Content Delivery Networks
  • Experience developing global applications and an understanding of internationalization and localization requirements
  • Experience designing and securing .Net backend architectures in hybrid complex environments
  • Experience with complex solutions that use the Adobe Flex framework and Adobe Flash Media Server is highly desirable

Director of User Experience Design*

Summary

The Director of User Experience Design position is an exciting opportunity to create the Global English Experience Model and apply this model to our next generation best-of-breed e-Learning, Online Knowledge, and Performance Support solutions. You will be building and inspiring a high-energy interdisciplinary team of visual designers, interaction designers and user researchers. You will be collaborating with content and instructional designers, engineering teams, product managers and customers to present the Experience Model, determine product requirements and manage the resulting design projects.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director will help create a product vision and roadmap for our ground-breaking online learning solutions for Business English skills and communications. The successful candidate is an effective Director of creative teams, with a track record of success in leading the design of products that are web-delivered, include innovative Web 2.0 interactivity and are delivered to enterprise customers on time and on budget.

Successful candidates must also demonstrate their ability to lead by example. This role is a hands-on position. Your design portfolio must demonstrate a broad depth of experience with emphasis on application and user-interface design, while leveraging rich clients in innovative ways. The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate exceptional application design experience that combines sophisticated user experience with innovative technical solutions while inspiring a design team to do the same.

Job Responsabilities:
  • Set the design vision for GlobalEnglish along with the roadmap to achieve that vision.
  • Work with engineering teams, product managers, instructional designers, content developers, users and customers to translate product requirements and business problems into compelling, innovative product design solutions that, when converted into working products will deliver the most effective and efficient English business communications learning experience in the world while giving GlobalEnglish a consistent look and feel wherever and whenever people interact with GlobalEnglish properties.
  • Build, manage and maintain a world-class global design team to meet the needs of the GlobalEnglish.
  • Develop, codify, communicate and evangelize the GlobalEnglish Experience Model internally and externally
  • Create beautiful, compelling visual designs and interactive prototypes for use as user experience proof-of-concepts
  • Develop and maintain design mockups, usage scenarios, prototypes, specifications, and other design documents for engineering teams
  • Successfully manage relationships with any outside agencies ensuring delivery of consistent GlobalEnglish experiences across our web, product and internal portal properties
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of competitive and complementary products and bring new ideas to the team
  • Promote a collaborative, constructive work environment for idea exploration and creativity
Skills/Abilities:
  • Six or more years experience designing and creating applications and/or multimedia experiences
  • Extensive experience successfully managing a design team
  • Extensive experience with Adobe tools and technologies, especially Adobe Flash, but also including Flex, AIR, Flash Media Server, Premiere
  • Exceptional visual design portfolio showcasing broad range of styles
  • Proven ability to balance multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
  • Experience designing learning environments and interactivity that engage users over extended periods of time and are effective in the acquisition of new skills or content, preferably language-related
