Summary

Summary

The Build Release engineer will closely work with cross functional teams needed to support key technology initiatives. The ability to multitask across multiple concurrent projects is required. Staff Accountant (International & Commissions)*

Summary

The Staff Accountant performs various accounting activities and assists with the monthly close process.

International Accounting & Liaison:

  • For approximately seven of our ten foreign entities, act as the primary contact for all foreign subsidiary bookkeeping, external audit and legal firms. Keep Controller informed of unusual or non-recurring activities.

Foreign Subsidiary Files:

  • Maintain corporate foreign subsidiary files, including:
    • Articles of incorporation and intercompany agreements
    • Contracts (leases, engagement letters, etc.)
    • Statutory accounts, tax returns and board minutes
    • Employee agreements
    • Other financial information

Financial Information:

  • Establish, communicate and enforce clear and consistent information requirements from bookkeeping firms, including:
    • Payment request lists (currently China only).
    • Documentation for funding requests/cash needs.
    • Monthly checkbooks.
    • Monthly or quarterly bank statements and reconciliations.
    • Monthly or quarterly trial balances.
  • Review financial information:
    • Make inquiries as necessary. Identify and investigate significant or unusual variances.
    • Reconcile cash monthly and accounts receivable, intercompany balances and other significant accounts monthly, or at least quarterly.
    • Prepare journal entries.
  • Communicate with bookkeeping firms. Ensure errors are not repeated.
  • Upload financial information into general ledger on a timely basis. Ensure entries are not entered more than once (by accounting firm and GE corporate).
  • Reconcile international bank accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Track differences between foreign subsidiary trial balances in consolidated GE and local financial statements.

Monitor Costs and Profitability:

  • Calculate profitability of foreign subsidiaries by country or region and by foreign employee.
  • Identify areas for cost containment.
  • Review and approve invoices from bookkeeping firms. Track accounting fees and ensure competitive.

Payroll:

  • Ensure information is provided timely for the payroll of international employees.
  • Ensure social charges and other deductions appear reasonable.

Statutory Accounts and Income Taxes:

  • Ensure statutory financial statements are prepared and filed timely.
  • Provide information requested by tax preparers and ensure income tax deadlines are met.

Accounts Payable Staff Accountant*

Responsibilities
  • Distribute invoices to appropriate individuals for approval timely.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents.
  • Audit expense reports to ensure reimbursements are made only for valid, reasonable business expenses.

Responsibilities
  • Drive multi-disciplinary projects to successful conclusion. It takes many disciplines software developers, instructional designers, content production, editorial, product marketing, product management, customer support, IT/Operations, systems analysts and customer support professionals to successfully create and release new products and new functionality. The Senior Program Manager is the orchestra conductor for the full range of tasks and activities related to these products and feature launches.
  • Scope and estimate all required and desired effort to ensure project success.   • Be an expert with respect to market dynamics, the competition, and leading examples of parallel products and services; understand competitive products and objectively compare these solutions
  • Define the product strategy and roadmap for a segment of our users, resulting in Business English e-Learning products and features whose learning management, customer administration, intelligent learner pathing, user toolsets, and systems interoperability are competitively innovative, instructionally effective, and valuable to corporate buyers
  • Deliver BRDs and PRDs that delineate broad and specific solution features and functionality, learning management and user toolset requirements, technology choices, product packaging, plans for tactical development and deployment, financial targets, sales and marketing fulfillment, and priorities with corresponding justification
  • Optimize product requirements and designs for a high-quality learner experience, optimal administrator and manager governance of employee learning and performance improvement, high-value corporate impact, customer satisfaction, and revenue goals
  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
  • Collaborate with Product Development—program managers, project managers, courseware designers, content developers, media specialists, software engineers, and QA/test specialists—to guarantee that requirements are converted into effective Business English e Learning solutions in a timely manner
  • Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples
  • Act as a leader within the company

Qualifications

The successful candidate will:

  • Be efficient and effective in customer and user interviews
  • Be an expert in enterprise learning technologies such as LMSs, LCMSs, courseware authoring tools, performance management systems, competency management systems, adaptive learning, and training analytics
  • Have some experience with e-Learning courseware development, perhaps in English as a second/foreign language, conversational simulations, assessment, performance support, and/or dynamically adaptive learning strategies

  • Be comfortable dealing with ambiguity
Education and work experience (REQUIRED):
  • 5+ years of work experience as a product manager or in a related role, ideally creating enterprise learning solutions for corporate customers.
  • 3+ years of work experience on enterprise learning and development programs for corporate customers.
  • Proven expertise and hands-on experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS), and/or content authoring tools such as Flash, Flex, Toolbook, and so on.
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products for the corporate market.
  • Technical background, with substantive experience in web-based enterprise applications.
  • Willingness to travel 25% (international)
  • Bachelor’s degree.
PREFERRED:
  • Substantive background in e-Learning course design and development.
  • Experience in English language instruction.
  • A track record of customer-facing engagement, resulting in products that are rapidly adopted by the market and financially successful.
  • 8+ years of work experience in e-Learning design and development for corporate customers.
  • Masters degree.

Summary:

The Director of E-Learning Content & Courseware position is an exciting opportunity to lead the content design and development of best-of-breed e-Learning, Online Knowledge, and Performance Support solutions. The Director will manage our team of e-Learning course designers, subject-matter experts, writers and editors, and content producers as they develop our English as a Second Language (ESL) and English-Based Business Communications solutions. This position will provide both internal and client-facing leadership in all facets of online interactive instruction for a profitable, fast-growing e-Learning company that enjoys worldwide market leadership in Business English learning through its network of offices across 23 countries.

The Director will strategically guide GlobalEnglish's ongoing development of ground-breaking online learning solutions for Business English skills and communications. The successful candidate is an effective Director of creative teams, with a track record of success in designing and developing e-Learning solutions ideally for English language instruction and/or cross-cultural business communications and has demonstrated a strong ability to deliver innovative products on time working with project teams of instructional designers, writers, artists, e-Learning developers, and software engineers.
